Abstract

The role reflection plays in the professional development of a teacher's instructional writing practice has not been widely researched. However, the purpose of this qualitative study is to identify reflection in the San Antonio Summer Writing Project, a professional development site dedicated to the instructional writing practices of teachers.

By observing 11 participants in the San Antonio Writing Project, I came across several learning experiences which are directly linked to the community learning that takes place in professional development sites. Through written reflections, I was able to access participant thought and view how transformative the San Antonio Writing Project was in regards to one's writing and instruction.
