Abstract

In this autoethnographic study of praxis, the author uses a framework of love to better understand why students want to be in her classroom. Through narratives of her experiences with students in the 2022-23 school year, the author discovered that students choose to be in her classroom because it is a warm and welcoming environment where mutual care and concern are the norm. The classroom is a community where students feel a sense of belonging and are engaged in learning critical strategies that are respectful of and relevant to their culture and background knowledge.
