Abstract

San Antonio is internationally well known for its five historic Missions designated as the World Heritage Sites through UNESCO. This great honor has brought so many development opportunities to the city, which author believes among them are the industrial heritage sites and structures. Existence of industrial structures at the World Heritage Buffer Area plays not only an important role in the city’s historic industrial revolution, but also has crucial impact on its infrastructure and cultural significance of the neighborhoods.

This research developed a rating system for assessing the level of integrity of retrofitted industrial structures. Moreover, it proposed some design guidelines based on six aspects of authenticity for some industrial heritage sites at city of San Antonio, which expected to be rehabilitated in the future.
