Abstract

This document contains biographical, historical, and analytical commentary on the following composers and works: Henry Purcell: "Tell me, some pitying angel"; Hector Berlioz: Les Nuits d'Eté; Giacomo Puccini: "Vissi d'arte, vissi d'amore," from Tosca; Joseph Marx: "Und gestern hat er mir rosen gebracht," "Selige Nacht," and "Hat dich die liebe berührt;" and Samuel Barber: Hermit Songs. These works were presented in a graduate recital in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Master of Music degree on April 1, 2010, at seven-thirty o'clock in the evening in The University of Texas at San Antonio Recital Hall.
