Graduate Recital Document

This recital document contains writings on the three pieces that were performed on my graduate conducting recital. The three pieces are Gustav Holst's Second Suite in F for Military Band, Warren Benson's The Solitary Dancer, and John Barnes Chance's Variations on a Korean Folk Song. The first chapter will explore why Gustav Holst wrote his Second Suite in F for Military Band and explain why he chose that source material. The second chapter will focus on the life and contribution to wind band literature of Warren Benson. The final chapter will give a biographical sketch of John Barnes Chance and a theoretical analysis of his composition Variations on a Korean Folk Song.
