Abstract
This document contains biographical, historical, and analytical commentary on the following composers and their works: Vincenzo Righini, Dodici ariette, op. 7; Ned Rorem, Six Songs for High Voice and 14 Songs on American Poetry; Johann Sebastian Bach, BWV 211, "Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht;" and Jacques Offenbach, Orphée aux Enfers and Les Contes d'Hoffmann. Selections from these works were presented in a graduate recital in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Master of Music degree on January 20, 2011, at seven-thirty o'clock in the evening in The University of Texas at San Antonio Recital Hall.
