Abstract

In computer architecture, instruction per cycle or IPC is an aspect of the processor performance, the average number of instructions executed for each clock cycle, which is an approximate indicator of the performance of the processor. It is an important factor to enhance the processor speed, but under what cost, which resources are involved in these calculations, how to measure them, and what is the best combination of these resources to produce the desired IPC?
