Abstract

This thesis assessed and examined Francis Fukuyama's claims that Western liberal democracies will be the end of ideological evolution and the final form of human governance. By analyzing the Syrian Civil War and the refugee crisis as a case study, this thesis evaluated the deficiencies in the arguments proposed by Fukuyama and reached the conclusion that liberal democracy is not universally applicable in the current global political environment. To do so, it employed a secondary qualitative research approach through the lenses of a constructivist.
