Recital Document

In this document, I examine each of the pieces that will be presented for my graduate organ recital. This document seeks to consider each piece from a variety of angles, including relevant aspects of composer biography, socio-cultural context, stylistic considerations, organology, and musical analysis. Although the pieces have been selected to represent a broad range of time periods and styles in fulfillment of academic requirements, I seek to highlight perceived connections between composers and pieces where I have perceived them. This document is presented not only as a supplement to my own recital, but also in the hopes that it may be useful to other performers who are preparing any of these or similar pieces for performance.
