Abstract

The main aim of this thesis is to improve the performance of direct AC-AC dual active bridge converter topology. The topology consists of two active H-bridges and one high frequency transformer. Bi-directional power flow is provided by using four quadrant switching cells. The advantages of direct conversion are that it uses a small number of passive components fewer power conversion stages. This study proposes using triangular current mode modulation method to reduce conduction and switching losses. In addition, this thesis analyzes steady state operation of this modulation method. The theoretical analysis is verified by simulation results.
