Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the discourse in legislative decision making concerning education finance in Texas. After analyzing dialogue in a meeting of the Texas House on Committee on Public Education, it is my argument that neoliberal ideology forces and/or allows legislators to utilize tactics that enable their support for education to seem legitimate even while deficits exist and particular groups of students are continually disenfranchised.
