dc.description.abstractFor security, it is safe to allow one file to be accessed by only one application. However, this may impose too much of a restriction. In this research task, we will explore mechanisms that allow one file to be shared by multiple applications. This can be achieved by assigning multiple authentication keys, if its authentication key is matched with one of the pre-assigned authentication keys, the request is granted. It can add, remove and change auxiliary keys and assign them to other applications. We plan to profile various applications to find the optimal number of levels and size of the entry of each level. We implement the access control mechanism in the NAND Flash memory controller and we calculate and compare the programming time (t_{PROG}) with other NAND specifications.
