Abstract

Using survey data from the Chinese General Social Survey of 2006, this study utilizes a tripartite theoretical framework to examine how marriage timing varies across family backgrounds, such as parental socioeconomic status and resources, individuals' characteristics, such as educational attainment and occupation, and the socialist state policies in contemporary China.
