Item Ignite(2020-12-08) Estrada, Angel; Maredia, SimranWe chose to base our design off of personal issues and the emotional rollercoaster that the entire world has been going through. We read over the poem, “The Burning” and we loved how it explored emotions at a deeper and intense level. We want our design to express intensity and serve as a reminder of the emotions we all felt on a personal level throughout 2020.Item In Time: A Performance Pavilion for Reconnecting and Sharing Experience(2020-12-11) O'Leary, Janay Blancarte; Estrada, GuadalupeThis space was designed by Janay Blancarte O'Leary and Guadalupe Estrada, This performance pavilion is a meeting place that encourages congregation and socialization, and it promotes health both in body and mind through the use of flexible spaces with movable and expandable elements such as walls, windows, stage, and seating areas to accommodate uses and allow for natural ventilation. The character of this performance pavilion will respond to the shared sentiments of UTSA students through their expressions of isolation, loss of connection and camaraderie with friends and family, loss of loved ones to Covid, and loss of financial security.Item Personal Bubble(2020-12-12) Ortiz, Christian; Divina, NoreenaThe project's purpose is to make an outside theater dedicated to the comfortability of an individual and the focus on how to make the theater's sound performance high quality. It also follows our current situation on regards to social distancing.Item Personal Issues(2020-12-10) Rocha, Alexandra; Gonzalez, LorenaConceptual performance space regarding the effect of personal issues during the 2020 Pandemic.Item Personal Pathways Theater(2020-12-12) Cantu, DagobertoMy partner and I designed this performance area based on a poem named, "The Disturbance". Several key words and phrases in the poem gave us the ideas we needed to start our project. One key phrases in the poem that helped us design was, "Pattern Breaks, the shape of our structure was designed after these words. Another phrase that helped us was, "they tell me to stay inside", this group of words made us decide to have an open theater free to the elements. The final and most profound words that brought our concept together were, "ease my mind". Throughout our collaboration we knew the space needed to make everyone fell like they can go anywhere on the grounds and feel relaxation and calmness. The grounds have a sky path to walk on and enjoy the views and the breezes. The sky path allows patrons a great vantage point of the theater, a freshwater lake and the premises.Item A Play of Light and Shadow(2020-12-11) Broyles, Michael; Gonzalez, VictoriaThrough the act of self-reflection performed throughout these moments of isolation we may still find the opportunity for positivity and hopeful possibility. This project will seek to exemplify these struggles within the darkness of isolation through the exploration of light as an artifact of hope. Through the construction and materiality of the performance space light will be incorporated to shape and control the darkness. These shadow spaces are thus acknowledged and allowed to play an active role as a performer, yet remain in the perifory and not allowed to dominate the lit segments of the space. Though the space may be intersperced with darkness and shadow, the light is where the performance occurs and will become the dominant and controlling element. In this sense the space will exemplify that hope will overcome the darkest moments. The entry corridors serve as spatious caverns interrupted by lightwells randomly spaced along its course. As the upper and lower corridor intersect a shaft of light divides the darkness on the lower level to mirror the physical separation above. Arriving in the performance hall the space can be naturally and artificially lit to achieve an appropriate atmosphere to complement the emotion being conveyed throughout the performances.Item Theatre Design(2020-12-11) Alobaidli, AminaAs human beings we must be flexible in order to adapt to this sudden change that has been brought on by COVID-19. The emotions brought on by this ongoing reality are reflected in the design of this performance space. The shape and materials are shown in relation to how emotions constantly change. Both indoor and outdoor space serve the users. Indoor space resembling isolation and the outdoor space representing freedom.Item The Third Planet(2020-12-11) Hanson, StuartProblems that we face as global citizens that 2020 has brought to light. Our goal is to create a space where these Global Issue Topics are displayed to the public to bring awareness of the issues that normally are ignored in the mainstream media. Through the exhibition of art work that showcases these topics in a capacity that Illuminates them, and provides the observers with a full sensory experience.
