dc.description.abstractThe study compared recidivism rates for male and female offenders who participated in two mental health programs in Bexar County against a control group of offenders who did not receive treatment. The study also examined the relationship between completion of treatment and completion of probation. The results indicated a significant, negative relationship between treatment in the outpatient group and recidivism, as well as a significant, positive relationship between completion of treatment for the outpatient group and completion of probation. Gender was significantly related to recidivism only at the bivariate level.
