dc.description.abstract | This collection of short stories intends to address the damage inflicted on the black community by colorism. It is a contemporary reflection of my personal experience as a black man in America and a member of a community that had historically been forced to endure the physical and psychological brutality of white supremacy and its racist underpinnings that have challenged even our own assurance of who we are as a people. Each of the three stories combats colorism from different perspectives while also tackling issues such as: white privilege, the fallacy of the white ally, the colonial re-writing of history, and the disruption of black identity. | |
