A pedestrian survey was conducted in March and May of 2006 along a portion of Salado Creek located between Blanco Road and Huebner Road in the northern part of San Antonio. The Center for Archaeological Research of the University of Texas at San Antonio, in conjunction with volunteers from the South Texas Archaeological Association, carried out the survey to fulfill the requirements of the contract with Rehler Vaughn and Koone, Inc., of San Antonio. The work was conducted in advance of construction of hike and bike trails proposed by the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of San Antonio. Survey and shovel tests were utilized to search for historic properties within the Area of Potential Effect. Two new archaeological sites were recorded: a multicomponent site with a possible historic grave and prehistoric lithic scatter (41BX1656), and a prehistoric site consisting of lithic debitage and burned rock (41BX1657). The fieldword was conducted under Texas Antiquities Permit No. 4058 and Dr. Steve Tomka served as Principle Investigator. All artifacts collected were processed and permanently curated at the Center for Archaeological Research.
